Can someone clarify something? Bonnie and rochelle losing their powers?

Nancy lost her powers at the end because Sarah binded them, did she do the same off screen with the other two? Think it's implied that menol or wateva just cut them off? Figured it works differently as Nancy had invoked the spirit?

This is what I figured. Sarah is called a "natural witch," so I think she's inherently powerful and doesn't have to work at it like the others do. Bonnie and Rochelle say they don't have powers like they once did, though, so I can't tell if they could do magic before Sarah came around (but it wasn't as powerful), or if they're referring to when they had a full circle.

I always figured that Sarah had power, as her Mother did and you see her using some when she balances the pencil in class.

The other girls I presumed are all written to be somewhat sensitive to the craft, however without Sarah they're unable to manifest fully. She's the real deal and they are charged up by her being around them. So when she cut the cord, they lost anything they had before.

The two only had powers because they were by virtue of being part of the coven leaching power that wasn't theirs.
They only had powers when Sarah showed up and completed the circle, because Sarah was the only one who had power of her own.
Nancy got her powers from envoking Manon

I thought that too. None of the three could do anything before Sarah came, so I assume it was Sarah's own magic they were using the majority of the film. Before, they sat around lighting candles and chanting - acting like witches - rather than doing any magic. Nancy got her own from Manon after they called the corners, but Rochelle and Bonnie were leaching off of Sarah. After the whole confrontation in the finale, they weren't a circle anymore, so they couldn't access Sarah's magic and Nancy was driven mad and her magic was taken back by Manon for abusing it.

Sarah may be a natural witch but the other two also had power from manon.

Only Nancy had power from Manon. She asked for it specifically, and that's what she got. Bonnie had her scars healed and Rochelle had revenge on Laura. By the finale, they were still using Sarah's magic because Nancy had her own.

Why would they be borrowing power from Sarah? That doesn't even make sense. They were obviously latching unto nancy.

reply

Nancy took hers for herself. Bonnie and Rochelle were leaching off of Sarah's magic since they formed their circle. They may have sided with Nancy after turning against Sarah, but they were still tapping into her power since she was a natural witch and pretty much powered up the circle.

Says who?? You are basically making that up.

I'm not making it up. Read kobrakai1's answer. They said exactly what I've said. I will use the term "makes more sense" loosely since we are talking about a movie with witchcraft, but as Sarah was a natural witch who inherited her powers from her mother rather than asking Manon for them, all three of the other girls were using her magic because they had none themselves. Nancy got her own eventually, but Bonnie and Rochelle leached off of Sarah's. Nancy's was hers and hers alone. Bonnie and Rochelle may have joined in with Nancy's dark antics in the finale, but they were basically using Sarah's own magic against her until Sarah truly came into owning her power and turned against them. She scared them off by bringing what they cast back on them 3x3. After that, they couldn't tap into her magic. Manon took Nancy's power back and drove her insane.

I agree to a certain extent as this is a fictional movie concerning elements of the occult that have no proof. I would say that Bonnie and Rochelle were 'weak' witches without the assistance of stronger ones like Nancy or Sarah. They probably still had the ability but didn't have the natural strength like Sarah nor the drive like Nancy. So without either they just shrugged and went meh.

Exactly. Thank you:)

Manon took their powers away because the girls had abused them. Sarah was a natural born witch but at the same time she had a conscience and was a good person who didn't abuse what she had. Even without Sarah, the girls had powers because they invoked Manon as shown by the scene where the 3 of them were able to levitate without Sarah's help. They no longer needed her once they had invoked the power of Manon. Each girl now had her own power. But later Sarah said that Manon was pissed about what the girls had done (killing Chris, being insensitive about Laura's hair falling out after the girl had apologized, all the reckless driving and almost killing people when changing those traffic lights). As they say Manon giveth and Manon taketh away...
