Issue

What kinds of issues are discussed in this movie, im trying to figure out if its worth the watch.

I am about to finish reading the book and have only ever watched bits and pieces of the movie so I don't know how much help I can be.

I do suggest if you watch the movie you also read the book to see some of the differences.

Generally, a young lawyer attempts to save his grandfather who he has never known who is on death row. The young lawyer (Adam Hall/Chris O'Donnell) wants to have questions answered about his past and so on and so forth.

The movie deals w/ the issue of the death penalty (and moreso from the book than the movie, my mind is changing), civil rights, racial battles and a person's change through the process of all of the above.

Good book. I intend to hunt down the movie and watch it beginning to end.

Well, for me, the book was awesome. It tore me in every different direction. The movie was a lame, pathetic attempt to cash in on the success of "A Time to Kill".

The acting was awful except for Gene Hackman, and even he couldn't save this awful film.

You are correct on the acting. Faye Dunaway's southern accent is absolutely HORRIBLE and overdone. I have lived in the south my entire life and no one sounds like her! Her acting was an insult to the people of the south.
