So strange that Jim Carrey made this...
Strange that Carrey opted for this movie at the height of his career, it's such a frustrating film to watch. I'm sure he had way better offers at the time.

shareThey paid him several cash bucks to make it is why
shareI think it's a good movie.
shareHe probably wanted to explore darker material. That and the twenty million dollar paycheque.
shareHe would've got $20m for anything at the time.
shareMaybe he wanted to work with Ben Stiller?
I still think that the darkness of the material appealed. He was probably trying to shed a little of his "mainstream broad comedy" reputation so he could approach more diverse and interesting work if he wanted it - he was typecast busting, or at least dipping his toe in.
I think it paid off. Without The Cable Guy, would we have gotten the Jim Carrey who did Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Truman Show?
I thought Jim Carrey was great as the titled character, I just wish the rest of the film was as great as the performance he gave.
shareThis. This right here. I like Cable Guy. Carrey’s best comedic performance. If the rest of the film was on his level, could have been a main stream classic, vice a cult one.
shareI thought it was funny. And yeah, the Benjamins made him do it. It's not rocket science.
shareThis is one of my faves
shareHe had just played The Riddler so he had played darker roles
