Lesbian plot an expression of the fantasies of Lana Wachowski?

This is probably overly psychologically reductive and simplistic, but I found myself wondering today if the lesbian romance of "Bound" was in some ways an expression of the then-Larry Wachowski's identification with the female gender and desire to be a woman in love with a woman. The male gender, as represented by Pantoliano, is the oppressive and pathetic father figure standing in the way of such love, and the happy ending comes when this corrupt father figure is vanquished and the women can be together at last, freed from the male gender.

I wondered the same thing. I just saw the film for the first time today, had heard about it a lot, but hadn't seen it. It was even better than everyone said it was, it blew me away! And I was so impressed by how well done the lesbianism in this film was, being a film made by two men. But then I remembered that one of them is a transwoman. I do feel that that must have informed then-Larry's rendering of the lesbians and lesbian relationships somehow. If it had been made by two straight male-identifying men there's just no way it would have been as good. I do think there could be a bit of a fantasy being played out in this movie for Larry. This is a bit cheesy, but it just shows to me how awesome it is that people come in all different types, and therefore create really amazing art that wouldn't be created if everyone was all alike inside.

The question could now be applied to both the directors!
