Shots reminded me of films such as Miller's Crossing and Barton Fink. Also a bit of Leone with the extreme close-up. Kinda reminded me a bit of Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs too. The Wachowskis really know what to borrow from to make a great film. I've only seen this one so far, actually.

Funny you mentioned Blood Simple because I saw Blood Simple for the first time yesterday and then Bound for the first time today and I have to say that though I liked both, Bound is easily the more entertaining film. And though both films have implausibilities, Blood Simple had more and so I didn't enjoy it as much.
Poorly Lived and Poorly Died, Poorly Buried and No One Criedshare
Yeah, the cinematography certainly had a Coens-esque feel to it at times, and the plotline of a "simple crime gone incredibly wrong" is one they return to again and again. One difference is that the Wachowskis seem to fetishize firearms and violence while the Coens do not (at least judging by the movies I've seen). The Coens show violence from an emotional distance, portraying it as ugly and brutal or else absurd (or both at the same time). In Bound the blood and violence is just as slick and sexy as the love scenes.
sharewell they are both neo-noirs, so probably they have the same influence (from 40s noir movies). Doesn't mean that The Wachowskis are copying the Coens...
