Well, since he called Katherine after 20 years to ask her to do a favor for him THAT DAY, perhaps he thought it would be rude not to at least "catch up" before asking, thus his behavior in the office. Albert INSISTED on waiting outside even when Armand asked him not to, so "poor Albert" is poor often because he insists on doing things that will lead to his own unhappiness (he thrives on drama, after all). As for Armand's treatment of Albert throughout, I blame Val completely; he is a self-centered little prick who cares only about himself. Armand cares so much about Val that he is willing to hurt Albert to appease his son...but Albert is not happy about it, either. He does try very hard to get Albert up to speed and include him, and the fact that all the property is already in Albert's name speaks volumes about Armand and his affection for Albert. I agree that they treat Albert very shabbily, though Albert shows them all when he saves the day (and gets Senator Keeley to essentially fall in love with him in the process).
As for my original question, the more I think about it, I think Armand is just overheated from vigorous dancing with Katherine.
