Why didn't the casting directors go with younger actors for Barbara and Val? Calista was a 32 year old playing an 18 year old and Dan was a 29 year old playing a 20 year old (perhaps a bit more believable than the latter)
Granted, Calista is quite youthful looking...but still...18!?
Yeah, it's kind of absurd. When I was 12 and first saw this movie, it seemed perfectly believable to me, when I heard Val was 20 and Barbara was 18 I'm like "Oh they're young grown ups that seems right!", but now in my early 20s I realize how they look and act a good 10 years older at least. Even besides the actors themselves, their characters act like someone closer to 30 than 20.
