If Bud and Doyle had died in the desert...

Way over thinking this and the Nyquil haze doesnt help, but oh well...

Let's say B and D did die in the Desert portion of the Dome. After a while, wouldn't decomp make the building unbearable?

However, taking this one step further, there didn't appear to be a Doctor in the building, and what if someone had gotten seriouly sick?

Was the desert sealed? When the stairs went up, I'm fairly sure they were sealed in, otherwise they could just leave. Regardless if they lived or died, I'm fairly sure the scientists decided to not use the desert anymore, otherwise Bud and Doyle would be there to annoy them.

I don't know about getting sick, that is unclear. I'm sure they had medicine stuffed away but if someone broke their leg? I'm not sure.

i like where you're going with this. but i would just end the movie with them dying in the desert. and maybe have the end credits roll across a time lapse video of them decomposing.

That would have been a perfect ending, kind of like in Zardoz when Sean Connery's character and his wife grow old and die in time lapse video.
