Hit home

Yes, the movie is not flashy, the simplicity of the storyline at times affects the pace of the movie. However, if you grew up in an Italian-American family especially during the 1950-60's era, the film will transport you back in time. It did at least for me. The focus on food, it being a communal foundation of sorts, and how it effects family, relationships, day to day responsibilities and all their complexities hit home for me. I connected with so many aspects or innuendos it was unbelievable. The film was thoroughly enjoyed. It’s refreshing to watch a film that focuses on Italian characters that are not mob related.
