Anyone like that last part? (spoilers I guess)

The last shot that went for over 5 minutes. That was really cool. It also taught me how to make scrambled eggs.

Dear sexy knickers I don't half fancy you meet me outside at 5:30 and we'll get it together

I thought the last scene was genius! Absolute silence from the characters: all the communication was done with preparing the breakfast. Delicious!

I saw Big Night for the first time at the Ottawa International Film Society back in 1997. The club used the auditorium at the Museum of Natural History on McLeod Street. After that last scene, the audience burst into applause, and I was so entranced by the ending I nearly jumped out of my seat.....

It's my favorite scene.

The fact it was a single shot as well adds to the brilliance!

Agreed. Great scene.

Favorite scene.

must have been an awesome pan! They never even buttered the pan!

As I remember it he put a small amount of oil in the pan. Olive oil I assume as that is how I usually do it now although it works with other oils too. That scene taught me a better way to make eggs.

I loved the unbroken and wordless end scene too, and I liked the fixing of the scrambled eggs. Also, the brothers reconcile without saying a word, even if their future is in question.

reply

Amazing ending ... It shows how brotherly love and genuine originality can defeat the bland and banal.

one of the best movies I have watched. Stanley Tucci is a genius, and Tony Shalhoub is a master actor ... the combination was ... Delicious ...

reply

Well it's not scrambled eggs! It's an omelette :)

But I agree. The last scene was perfect.

reply

Yes exactly! It was an omelette. Thank you. He fried a large one and cut it in 3 halves. I loved the end scene. It was brilliant. That's how people mostly reconcile imo rather than using elaborate dialogues like in most films. Every actor was perfect in the shot.
