This movie in a Bible study

This movie is a perfect base for a bible study.

In the book Finding God in the Movies; 33 Films of Reel Faith by Robert K. Johnston & Catherine M. Barsotti you can find a complete chapter dedicated to this movie!

Some of the themes might be worthy of what you mentioned, but you probably don't want to be showing this to a group of Christians since the lord's name is taken in vain many times. Ian Holm's character, Pascal, breaks one of the Biblical commandments repeatedly and I can't see holy rollers condoning said speech. Not that I care at all; I'm just saying this isn't appropriate viewing for a bible study group because of its language - and the implication of a fair bit of sex outside marriage...

I think people in bible study classes realize there is poor language and extra-marital sex in the world. The bible itself has some pretty race parts to it.

Yeah, the Bible is filled with HORRIFIC violence. Filled. I'm not some Bible scholar - or even a christian for that matter, but off the top of my head, based on some basic research? I remember stories of severed heads on platters, LOTS of impalement, the dismembering of a woman's corpse into twelve pieces(!), and a freaking Lake of Blood made of people who've been crushed up like f--king wine.

Yet some naughty, realistic words and some LOVE (offscreen) is just WAY too much to bear. It all makes sense - America's acceptance of bone-crushing, heinous acts of violence on TV, but the minute there's a nipple or swear, ITS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE, GOD LOVE IT!

And Bible study is a study in the gullible and the stupid.

Says you. Genius.

Shut up. My opinion on your comment's sentiment is my own, but you're out of line spouting that s--t at someone making a friendly comment like that. For shame, man. Shame.
