I'm in a communication's class right now and the focus is on food and media and fast food ect. Well I just had to watch this movie for this and you may or may not be interested in some of the others we're watching. Eat Drink Man Woman, Tampopo, Pulp Fiction and Raise The Red Lantern. The book that we're reading discusses food and film and has many more movies connected to food in it,the book is "Reel Food" edited by Anne L. Bower. Hope this helps. As an aside Simply Irresistable had lots of food and cooking in it if i remember right.

Hmmmmm, if you want to never eat again you should watch Marco Ferreri's La Grande Abuffata (La Grande Bouffe) in which the characters try to eat themselves to death.
Enjoy!

Hey if you want a movie with food in it....Particularly French food...Check out a film called Vatel. Food is only one part of the movie but the whole film is worth it just for the scenes dealing with food.

Definitely check out "Vatel" and "Babette's Feast" like the others recommended.

Also try "A Feast at Midnight" and "Mostly Martha"

"Simply Irresistible" is not exactly a great movie but it deals a lot with food and really makes you crave eclairs after you watch it:)

Buon sangue non mente.

I would suggest like water for chocolate.

I watched "Babette's Feast"; great food and dining but that aspect was suppressed by the depressing storyline.

Adding to the ones already mentioned, I would mention "Chocolat" and "Tortilla Soup" for films appealing to lovers of food, especially the latter.

One of the best food movies ever made is Tampopo, a Japanese movie. It is just ABOUT food, very little else really, and is absolutely hilarious in some parts too.

The same director Juzo Itami made another rather food-oriented movie, Supermarket Woman (Suupaa no Onna), about a woman's efforts to reform a supermarket. It's not as good as Tampopo but quite enjoyable nevertheless.

Of this year's movies, Last Holiday features food quite prominently, and has a cameo by Emeril LaGasse.

I really liked God of Cookery, but I think one's enjoyment depends on one's silliness threshold.

Delicatessen.

A Korean film "301/302". One woman loves food, lives it-lost her marriage to it. The other abhors it, cannot smell or digest it-vomits, lives on nutritional supplement pills. Shocking conclusion. Many shots of the previous tenant making meals start to finish
I'm not a fan of authentic Korean/Asian cuisine, seafoods, etc. but I do love to watch a beautiful meal prepared! Nice interesting movie:)

For some reason the "Cooking-A-Meal-In-Prison"-scene in Goodfellas really got etched in my mind for years. Especially the garliccutting-part. I asked some friends and they too were obsessing on it to the point where one actually cuts the garlic with a razorblade...

Other than that, Big Night for sure. I'm allergic to wheat and don't really think about it, but watching this brings me damn near to tears every time! It all just seem so... yummy!

I adored "Babette's Feast."

Shocked that no one mentioned Le Grande Bouffe...

Someone did mention La Grande Bouffe. I also suggest, in the French vein, Les Cuisses and Les Ailes. The person who said that Babette's Feast was depressing definitely wasn't watching the same film I was. Exquisite! Tampopo and that film are my two favourites when it comes to food films. Cailles au Sarcophage!

Just to add, there's a little known Czech film called "Daisies" (Sedmikrasky), which has an incredible food scene... a giant banquet table laid out with the best cakes and food, and is then attacked full force by two very hungry pretty girls. It comes towards the latter half of the film and is worth the whole wait.
