From a new perspective

I watched this movie years ago, when I was around 14-15, and fell in love with it. Obviously my favorite character was Marty; I thought I was Marty (minus the quick-wit). My whole life I wanted to be older and more mature... I watched this movie and thought "It's not crazy to want to be older." It made me feel hopeful.

Now I'm quickly approaching 25, and I just rewatched this movie yesterday. It felt like a whole new film... I realized I missed the major theme (probably couldn't understand it). I no longer saw it through Marty but rather every other character... the movie now seems to be about the sadness and difficulty of becoming an adult. Every character is trying hard to fight it but everyone ends up accepting it. Kind of bittersweet...

I'm not much of a writer but figured I'd share how I felt as best as could =)

...watch it's no sweat...

Nice post. I still love Marty, but I can relate to Willie.

Cool thing about many movies - different perspectives with age. True of the Graduate as well.
