Sweet Caroline...

...sucks!

Admit it. Most played out song in American history, and nothing makes me want to walk out of a bar faster than that jingle blasting out of the jukebox and some morons singing along. That song should be retired by every radio station in the world and every restaurant, bar, or eating establishment.

It has been big here in Massachusetts for a long time because they play it during the 7th inning stretch at Red Sox games. It also was very popular at weddings and bars just because of the sing-a-long aspect.

It has gotten annoying over the last 10 years or so, but I've gotten older.

NO MORE HORROR REMAKES!

If we're at the same bar, that song comes on and you walk out... i consider that addition by subtraction.

Not within the context of how it's used in this movie since the song wasn't a played-out cliche as you now imply. It was also featured before the Red Sox started playing it during their 7th inning stretch in 1997.

Yep, hence why they didn't sing the "so good so good so good" in the film. The Boston fans started that in 1997.

Which came first, the song in this movie, or the Fenway Park tradition?

______
Just give me till then to give up this fight
And I will give up this fight.

reply

The Fenway Park tradition didn't kick in until after 1997, so the film featured this song without any references to the Boston Red Sox.

In 1996 this was a forgotten joke kind of song sort of like playing Ice Ice Baby or Marky Mark now. Since this movie it's become overplayed and a cliche.
