Rachels' fathers' accent...

Did anyone else notice his South African accent disappear during the first episode, reverting to his native Welsh lilt.
Mind you, the accents were pretty bad generally.

I couldn't understand any of it. They weren't in South Africa, were they, and yet everyone was South African. How did Dr Nikki know any of these people well enough to owe them favours amounting to moving her entire team to another continent to work???? Didn't she leave Africa as an orphan aged 14? Did she stay in touch by letter? Did she leave her friends saying to them, "Sorry I'm leaving, my Dad's left and my Mum's dead and I'm starting again in a comprehensive in Guildford, but if ever you get murdered in suspicious circumstances, get on the dog and bone and I'll come round with all my pathologist mates to sort you out"?

It's all a bit far-fetched.

I still love the show though, don't get me wrong.

The storyline was set in Zambia, but was (in reality) shot in South Africa (hence the South African accents).

Far too similar storyline to 'The Constant Gardener'.

It wasn't worth the trip.

I thought Rachel's father was originally from the UK. He mentioned during the episode that he took Rachel back to the UK so she could have a proper English education. In any case, if he was from South Africa, his accent wasn't very good and yes, it did sound English a few times.
