I enjoyed last nights episode of Silent Witness but one thing puzzled me. Why doesn't Chief Inspector Rebecca Woods (Kate Ashfield) wear the appropriate rank markings on her epaulettes. Her epaulettes had only her service number on them, the same as a Police Constable. All the PCs addressed her as ''Ma'am'' but how did they know what rank she was? Obviously some PCs would know who she is but not all of them, considering that this was a major incident.

I suppose you have to assume that she's well known to all the local officers.

shareI hated the epaulettes as well. May be something to do with S019, or I think she was SO15. What bugged me more was how the pathologists just stroll into a building that may have gunmen in right behind the armed response officers.
