JJ: Why can't you work at another McDonald's? (11-2)

On the 11-2 episode, there was a litigant (who appeared a little slow) who was suing his cousin and her two friends for damaging his car. He used to work at PCS Mobile, got his cousin a supervisory job there - and then he either quit or she fired him shortly after. He then got a job at McDonald's a few blocks away from the PCSMobile, both of which are located in his neighborhood. As he drives to work and passes by the PCSM is when this group harasses him and damaged his car.

Judge Judy asked two stupid questions:

1. Are there other McDonalds in Rockland Illinois? (He answered yes) She then wanted to know why he didn't take a job at one of the others to avoid his cousin and her group?

2. She then asked why he drove to work if the job was a few blocks away from his home?

Well, Judy..... This is America. People are free to choose where they want to work (for the most part, though in the recent economy that wasn't everyone's option) and how they get to work each day without being harassed. If this particular McDonald's is only a half mile away why in the world would he take a job ten miles away for the same company (most likely paying the same hourly wage) just to avoid harassment?

Not sure but I thought he said he lived a block and a half from his job, which is why she asked him why he drove to work.

I heard the same thing Mike heard. He said he lived near where he worked and he decided to drive there because he felt safer driving there. But, I did feel it was a little odd JJ was asking why he worked at the particular McDonalds.

Even if the McDonald's was across the street - if he wishes to drive there, so be it. It's America. He should be able to get to work whichever way he chooses without being harassed or endangered. 

I thought the same thing. Obviously if he was going into work at 6:30p, he's working the late shift. Even if it's a block or two, why take the chance walking home that late? This guy is at McDonald's not Goldman Sachs so he had no real skill and jobs aren't easy to get nowadays. Sometimes she is so far removed from reality.

She is indeed. She really isn't sure how the peons live below her.

She tends to forget that she's rich and the litigants on her show aren't. She hasn't been working class for a long time. I like her but I swear she's been annoying me lately.

Shes right to ask the simple question. he filed a protective order that the defendant couldn't come within so many feet but then drives past her work to get to his job. Hes the one that requested it knowing he would have to pass her regularly.
He seemed like he was faking, I dont believe he was totally innocent but I dont think he broke his own window.
