No more message boards as of February 20

Well gang, it looks like imdb is closing down their message boards as of February 20. Apparently, they've noticed a change in most of the forums - they don't seem as friendly as they once were. Hmmm - I wonder why? So I will continue to post here until then, but just wanted to say 'nice knowin' ya - it's been fun'.

I'm pretty sure that most of visitors come here because of the discussion board. So I'm pretty sure that IMDB will change their mind after number of visitors decrease (by a lot).

Yea, what you said. I know I sure as hell won't be using anything IMDB with the message boards being down. This is a terrible move. I came here for the love/hate relationship and fun debates I had with all you guys and without that I sure as hell won't be using this site at all. Stupid move IMDB and the person who decided on it should be fired. I loved using this section of the website to get a feel for what other people thought of the shows and movies I watched. This is asinine beyond believe they are shutting down the only worthwhile part of this website.

I know I do. I'm uninstalling the app. Everything else on the website/app can be obtained with a simple engine search.

I love it! Is it possible for someone to create a free site for us on Yahoo or something? (I know very little about how this works - I just join!) We have to move fast as we only have two weeks.

Its creator calls it a clone of IMDB. I just looked at it, and it looks promising.

We're still a week away - please, everyone - let us all know where we're going to...I'm going to be heading over with Gubbio since that seems the most convenient choice (and I like Gubbio).

There are a lot of boards being touted and a lot of opinions on which is "best." But I, for one, am not up to trying them all out.

I'm sticking to the one I mentioned, and just see how things shake out. If we find something better, we'll all have to "AH-MOVE!" 

I cannot stand IMDB for making this stupid decision. It's going to be hard to get all of us together because IMDB comes up first when you Google Judge Judy. Google gave IMDB a good place in the search engines and IMDB is abusing that by taking away features without getting a poll or consulting the users that made it popular. F them! I don't know anywhere else we could meet really. Facebook will be too confusing because of the design. There's too many people at Judge Judy Facebook and we all might get lost in the bunch but as of right now that's all I can think of

I , too, will miss this forum, but the depravity shown on other boards is unconscionable

Reminds me of when I initiated a white board in my 7th-8th grade classroom. I was teaching Army brats and they needed a release...
at first, the comments were like "too much homework"
'my parents are mean', etc.

but it quickly turned into 'mary is a slut' etc.

some people need boundaries/ consequences.

I'm not sure why everyone is jumping to the conclusion that the boards are closing because of trolls.

Frankly, I don't think Amazon gives a rat's ass about trolls. If they did, they would have done something about it long ago.

I believe MONEY is behind the closing. If this place was a "money maker" for them, they'd keep it open. We're all here for FREE, and I don't even see ads, because I use an ad-blocker.

So, what's in it for Amazon to keep this place? 

Exactly! The announcement to shut down the boards came a day after it was announced that Amazon had its best financial quarter ever.

The truth is being spun. If this were in JJ's courtroom she'd be the first to say:

'Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining'.
