Why do people w/ no car insurance even bother?

Surely they've seen the show before. Has Judy EVER ruled in favor of someone who is caught driving without insurance? I've seen the show enough now to know that that is her standard, it's like the first question she asks in car accident cases. The minute the person admits they didn't have insurance at the time of the accident, that's a wrap. This is WITHOUT EXCEPTION. I've NEVER seen her rule in favor of the uninsured motorist. She regularly cites the "clean hands" rule about people coming to court without having clean hands themselves.

So if you know you're going to lose, why waste the time? Why even bother coming? You WILL be scolded in front of the country. Who WANTS that? 

Because if the plaintiff is awarded damages to pay for the repair bill, the defendant doesn't pay - the show pays. So there's no loss for the defendant with no insurance.

But what about the plaintiff with no insurance? I've seen plenty people file a case and inevitably they are awarded nothing (and get a scolding to boot) when Judy finds out they don't have insurance. Why even bother?
