Big Bob Pataki = Jack Arnold from The Wonder Years?

Sorry if this was posted by someone before, I'm new to IMDB, but was Big Bob Pataki intentionally made to look like Kevin Arnold's dad Jack from The Wonder Years? I know on Doug, the principal, Mr. Bone, was at least partially inspired by Don Knotts.

Everytime I watch The Wonder Years I always think, there is Big Bob Pataki. Don't know if it was meant or not, but they are very alike.

Not really. Jack was a stern but good father, whereas Big Bob(for the most part) was a neglectful jerk.

Oh really? Mr. Bone did sounded a lot like Don Knotts. 
