Maybe the best cartoon ever.

what do you think

It's definitely my favorite. :)

For me it's this or The Simpsons, going more towards Arnold though.

I believe it's the best kids cartoon ever created.

For me, it's close between this and Futurama. I cannot ignore the fact that the Simpsons really dropped off after season 11/12, but despite that it is probably #3 on my list. I love Archer too, but I don't really consider that a cartoon. South Park and Family Guy I love because they are probably the two funniest shows of all time, but they offer little outside of humor. South Park, especially recently, I find to be really pretentious and shallow, but most episodes are still hilarious.

Futurama is just a more mature HA....except with robots and aliens and mutants, so I would probably give Futurama the slight edge.

Definitely one of the best "kids shows" and Nicktoons every created in my opinion.

I feel like it and Doug are the only "realistic" Nicktoons about normal kids lol

reply

As Told By Ginger and All Grown Up were fairly realistic for kids' cartoons (and Rocket Power could count, too). The realistic cartoons are the ones I always liked the most growing up. I liked the fact that I had characters and storylines I could relate to. Not *everything* needs to be fantasy-based.

Hey Arnold! IS perhaps the greatest animated program of all time. The episodes were always clever, extremely well written, and often times deep. The show was realistic, and was a rare show on Nick where some of the characters were rather poor and just trying to get by. The show never once declined in quality. Not only an excellent animated show, but tv show in general.

reply

It was definitely a great show, it's a crying shame that the planned series finale never came to pass because of Nick's stupidity.

reply

It's one of my favourites, along with Rugrats and Doug.

Its probably one of the best kids cartoons ever made. It only got better as it went along. What made it so great was the characters and their interactions. They felt like people. They could be jerks sometimes and decent the next...like real people. The kids weren't just good and bad. They all mingled, fought, got along...just like real kids. Hey Arnold is easily the most layered and mature kids cartoon about kids ever made.

I don't think it's the BEST cartoon ever, but it's up there. I like As Told By Ginger, more. That show was really ahead of it's time and paved the way for other shows like Degrassi.

Huh? Degrassi was originally from the 80s.

I think Arthur was always more enjoyable for me than Hey Arnold. Don't get me wrong, I love this show, but Arthur always felt more relatable to me and was funnier.

I don't think Nickelodeon deserved Hey Arnold. It was complex and mature enough to be appreciated by adults more than kids, and they dropped the ball hard on this show. I get that Hey Arnold was never that popular (when you're competing with golden-age SpongeBob and a still-popular Rugrats, you have no chance), but that show deserved an ending.

Arthur is the best kids cartoon of all-time IMO. But Hey Arnold is arguably the best Nicktoon of all-time.

Hey Arnold is just one of those shows. Its a major classic and I still hear some people talking about it today.

That is true when you think about it, when I look at Hey Arnold today on DVD this show seem more for mature audiences for at least 13 and up. You have a kid (Arnold) who seem to act more of an 18 year old than an average middle school kid.

for a cartoon aimed for young children it possibly is one of the best. it's always been one of my favorites, next to Rugrats. but i think i've grown to like this more

Lamest cartoon ever?
No.
Best cartoon ever? HELL NO

reply

I'd say it's possibly the best ever kids cartoon, as seen from an adult's perspective. I've only just started watching it and find it highly entertaining, even though I'm well beyond the target audience. It's intelligent enough to keep me amused and lacks the kind of gimmicks that render the likes of Rugrats and Recess unwatchable to me.

reply

I love it and at the age of 32 I can still enjoy the show.
