I really hated the way this show ended
Not too long ago someone here asked what happened in the finale episode. And someone else answered with a post explaining the plot of it. I appreciated the fact that someone took the time to do that, answering someone's question with a summary of a show that some people did not remember, including me. That showed some consideration. But the sad truth is, I severely disliked the finale epsiode. I already mentioned elsewhere how it had ten writers and how excessive that seemed. But I really hated how sappy and saccharine it was. And how Ray was so against going to the hospital even when he needed an operation. He was all like "I want a second opinion" and "doctors just want your money", and I was like, where is all this coming from? He clearly didnt understand that he needed to get this problem taken care of or he would get really sick. Whatever. And then came the part when they have trouble bringing him out from the anesthesia, and that's when the sappy saccharine-ness kicks in. Then came the crying and the pouring out of hearts and revealing true feelings and emotions all over the place by nearly everybody. It made me want to throw up. And Robert having a breakdown after hearing a lame Stevie Wonder song from the 70s that I cant stand. And Ray making that stupid joke about Debra's "time of the month" after she had just told him how much she loved him and how much he meant to her. Yeah, that's exactly how he would react, hah hah hah, that's just so damn funny, isn't it?
Also, at the beginning, Ray complains that they need a bigger kitchen table because of all the people in his house that he can't stand. But by the end, EVERYONE is at the table, and Ray is now OK with it. Because he survived being in the hospital for a routine procedure and everyone loves him so much and is happy he is OK. What a bunch of crap.
I know there are worst sitcom series finales out there (Seinfeld and How I Met Your Mother come to mind) but I just can't stomach this drivel. That's just how I feel, others may think differently about it. And like I said many times before, Ray Romano didnt even want to do a ninth season originally, but CBS had the money truck driven to his house and he reconsidered. Whoopty doo for him. And they never did the proposed Everybody Likes Robert spin-off, and the world is truly a better place for that. It truly "never ends for Raymond", huh? Yep.
