GOOF!

I found a goof. I think.
I scanned the goof section and think it's not there.....
could be wrong though....

In the scene at the airport when Tommy is on the phone leaving his girl a message.
Well he is leaving her a message in one cut but in the next it's like he's talking to her.
I didn't submit it to IMDB because I don't have specifics as I saw it on HBO and can't just review to make sure.

Go find it for me you DVD owners!

Have a nice day.

reply

I think your wrong because she was actually in the airport and he was most likely leaving a message for her. They just happened to bump into eachother in the next scene. That doesn't make it a goof!

reply

No no no no....

You have to listen to the conversation he is having. Actually just the part when the scene goes to Farley and Spade and Farley says some stuff and hangs up the phone. It just didn't fit. Kind of like they filmed it before the other part and maybe he would have been actually talking to her rather than her machine or something.

reply

He was talking to her on the machine leaving a message I don't think she was talking back to him. Because she was at the airport too. That's not a goof though.

reply

I think he just sounds like he's talking to her when he's really just rambling to her answering machine, I see what your saying, but the way he does a quick goodbye and stuff I think he's still on the machine, not a goof

reply

He's talking to her machine and she is listening because she doesn't want to pick up.

reply

im not sure

reply

I believe he is leaving her a message and in the next scene, bumps into her at the airport. He didn't expect her to be there, he thought she was flying home (which is another goof all together). She wound up staying b/c she found out about the scam that's going on.

reply

I got you, dude! Just before he hangs up, it does indeed sound like he's talking to her, versus leaving a message on her machine.

reply

yes! i noticed that too.
he's leaving her a message..
then it cuts to david spade and
that weird lady who's trying to get
them a flight to chicago and then
it goes back to farley on the phone.
and it sounds like he is talking
to her versus leaving a message.
i always thought that was
a mess up, myself.

reply

its got to be that she was trying to fly to cuyahoga falls, oh... I live in cuyahoga falls and there's no airport!!

There's not much on IMDB for goofs. If you want to really get deep into it, check out slipups.com It's user submitted and usually have every slip up for a film listed.

There is NO goof. Chris (Tommy Boy) was just finishing up his message to Michelle. It may have sounded like he was actually talking to her then, because of the way he ended his message, but that's all he was doing (finishing the message). That's it.

And what's this about bumping into her at the airport? WRONG! Right after he left the message, he and Richard boarded the plane to Chicago. He doesn't see Michelle again until AFTER he gets thrown out of the building while talking to Zalinsky. (Remember he breaks the bench he's sitting on)

reply

I agree with oatmealkills, it's not a goof. Tommy was just ending his message to Michelle by saying he'll talk to her later. That doesn't make it a goof.

Also like oatmealkills I'm confused by what several people were saying about Tommy seeing Michelle in the next scene and at the airport. It was a while before Tommy saw Michelle and he saw her in Chicago, again like oatmealkills said.

reply

Tell you what people, you can take a good luck at a T-bone by sticking your head up a bull's ass, but would'nt you rather take the butcher's word for it?

hahahah just kidding, but yeah I thought Tommy was just leaving a message, but sounded as if he was TALKING to her. Oatmealkills got it right. The thing that you gotta remember here is that Tommy was very upset/sad and wanted to make it up with Michelle, hence he started talking/leaving the message in this way, to win Michelle over. He did'nt wanna sound all phony, like when someone just leaves a "hey call me back" type of message. Yes and he and Richard saw Michelle after the Airport, in Chicago.

reply

Ridiculous,

that's not a goof. some people speak to an answering slightly like they're talking to the person not necessarily like robots.
