Tommy Boy - A Modern-Day Comedy Classic!

I just saw it again on TNT, and all this time, 13 years later, it STILL makes me laugh 'til I cry.

The one thing I think makes it the best is how the script is written in such a way that Spade and Farley are able to bring their best comedic stuff to the table through their characters, Tommy and Richard.

Old early '90s SNL fans can watch the movie and enjoy the fact the entire script is clearly tailored around each actors' brand of comedy...

(Example: One liners such as - "Book smarts, which waved 'bye-bye' to you long ago.." --- that is SO classically David Spade.)

And yet people who aren't SNL fans can still enjoy it, too... because the lines are still funny in and of themselves, even if the audience member is not familiar with the rest of Spade's and Farley's work.

It's just one punchline after another. All these years later, it's still fresh to me. I can still watch it and laugh my butt off, as if I'm seeing it for the first time. They should re-release this in the theaters for the 20th anniversary! It's just modern stupid slapstick at it's best. :-) Great stuff. I'm glad Farley left us with this silly gem before he passed away.

I'd like to think "Tommy Callahan" married Michelle, has a couple kids, and is still running Callahan Auto in Sandusky, OH (*WINK*). Maybe had lap-band surgery or something too... haha.

This movie has "The '90s" written all over it. I love it!

God loves you, so much, that He gave Jesus Christ as the ultimate sacrifice for your sins.

If you watch 50 First Dates, (also directed by Peter Segal) the name of the clinic that Drew Barrymore's character stays in (in Hawaii) is called the Callahan Institute, run from Ohio! ;)

This movie never gets old! Each time I watch Tommy Boy, it's always as if I'm watching it for the first time. I agree with the poster who said it has the 90's written all over it--from the clothes,to David Spade's cell that was a big as his head--yet it's timeless.

It's like Seinfeld--no matter how many times you watch it, it's still just as funny as it was when you saw it for the first time. Thank you Chris and David for making this treasure of a film. It always cheers me up when I'm feeling depressed. If you don't like Tommy Boy, there is something seriously wrong with you!

Tommy Boy is timeless! I have never watched this movie once without falling out of my seat laughing! It has everything a great comedy needs, incredible one liners (That I use all too often in my everyday life), a lot of physical comedy that after years of viewing still makes me explode into laughter, a great deal of heart that made you really care for the characters and their struggle, and of course the treasured car being torn to bits! No movie has ever had an effect on me like Tommy Boy, it's just a remarkable addition to comedic film history! Nothing gets the family together like a nice viewing of Tommy Boy! It will forever go down in history as my number one favorite movie of all time!
