Dan's Empathic Powers Foiled By a Wooden Fence?

All movie long, he could sense her from a distance. But when she was 10 or 20 feet away, looking right at him through a hole in a wooden fence, nothing. Feh. She should have poked his lazy eye out.

His empathic powers seemed pretty useless until he had a long island iced tea. Because after that, he was pretty much dead on.

But it still would have been better if he "sensed" her over there but they either didn't believe him or didn't look in time.

He stopped while she was looking at him, cocked his melon head, then walked away.

There's another thread in here about him that is hilarious. About how they had to cut out hours of his stating the obvious dialogue. In this case, it might have been something like, "She...was here. Earlier, she wasn't. Then she was. Now...she's...um...not. I need a cheeseburger."

I wondered why he couldn't sense her there too actually, but then i thought seeing as she did some sort of mind manipulation of Ben Kingsleys character later on in the film to get him to command them all to go back to the club, could she have done the same to Forest Whitakers character to just distort his abilities?

reply

Mind control? Ok, I guess I totally missed any mind control type things. I just figured Xavier told them to go back there because it was all they had to go on.

Dan's powers also failed to sense those two bums behind the dumpster. His powers are only limited by the needs of the script.

It's a simple story of a town occupied by a legion of vaginas.

Sir, clearly you failed parapsychology in college - telepathic waves cannot be transmitted through wood.

Always remember to wear a helmet when caving, and carry three light sources

And he didn't "sense" her right above his head when she was hiding in the sewer pipes.. right above his head! "She's here... over there I think. No wait, she's over um....aaaaarghh!" Would've kicked this stupid movie into overdrive.
