I wanted to murder Forest Whittaker's character during this movie

I'm sure Forest will forgive me for saying that. I have great respect for him as an actor.
But his character in this movie, it seemed like the only thing he was good at doing was spouting the most obvious *beep* If that was intended for comic effect, it didn't work.

Yeah, Dan was a total waste and his demeanor quite annoying. Except for the end, he was effectively irrelevant to the story. I mean, so was Alfred Molina's character, but he at least kept his mouth shut for the most part. Dan just kept on pointing out the obvious.

reply

Yeah, like the scene in the train with the blood and guts everywhere...

Dan: "Something bad happened here"

reply

Maybe they should hire him for that "Captain Obvious" commercial for Hotels.com

reply

It was pretty hilarious--he does state the obvious throughout the movie...but I'd totally love his job.

'It's almost lunchtime. I sense you're hungry.' See? I can totally do it.

Even when they all first met, and Dan introduced himself, everyone kinda looked like, "Oh, they brought in a fortune teller". Though it wasn't as bad as Michael Madsen, "If they brought me in, then the sh*t has definitely hit the fan". WTF

Forrest's character was really weird. As if he'd been sexually abused or something.

I like the scene where Kingsley's character says to Whitaker, you don't *beep* know do you, You don't *beep* know!"

The War has only begun, will you defend your destiny?

reply

Yeah he was kind of annoying. Like near the end he watches the tv about hair color then has a vision of sil moaning. And makes a connection. Then he goes to Alden's room and hears both of Alden and Sil moans and automatically assume its sil he is with. His telepathic powers should have been useful earlier and maybe Alden wouldn't have died

reply

The funniest was when they found the car Sil had been driving. It had run out of gas & was left on the road. Dan tells the group, "She walked...."

No freaking kidding! That's usually what you have to do when your car runs out of gas. Finally he says, "She went that way" (which was straight ahead). He added nothing to the movie except for some hilarious moments like this.

reply

I think Dan means she walked because she healed herself completely of severe injuries that would take a human years or many weeks to heal from.He didn't say that only because her car /the car she stole was out of gas.

reply

Didn't she roll out of the car before it crashed? If so, then she didn't have any serious injuries to heal.

Update
If I want your opinion, I'll GIVE it to you.

reply

Rolling out of a speeding car, while not as deadly as a crash, will still cause serious injuries to a human, which Sil can heal from virtually instantly.

The scene I am talking about is when the car she stole ran out of gas. The cop later finds it and notices the gas hand on empty.

I don't know, I loved his character. The whole movie was pretty cheesey, and sometimes I just enjoy that. It's just a fun movie, I think you are meant to laugh at the characters. It wasn't one that was making some poignant statement, it wasn't thought provoking, it wasn't some mystery that you were trying to figure out. Just fun.

I'm a little like Roger Ebert when it comes to watching films

I thought he was hysterical as hell. This movie works the same way Johnny Mnemonic does. So corny it's good.
