Very true. John Doe was a sanctimonious prick, in addition to beng a murderer, and he attacked 'sinners' who weren't necessarily doing extensive harm to others, in addition to more destructive individuals, like the drug-dealing pedarest and the greedy lawyer (although even the latter was arguably fulfilling a duty in a democratic/liberal society in which every individual is, quite rightly, entitled to representation). That said, there was a limited graphic novel series that went further into the background of each of Doe's victims, which further elaborated on their less sympathetic nature and behaviour (for instance, 'Pride' was portrayed as an entitled 'bitchy' type who mistreated her colleagues in the modelling industry).
