Meg Ryan?

No question, the accent - it was awful.

The walk was at least in character and as described in the book.

She is just terrible and has the ability to rui just about any movie in which she appears.

what was funnier was hearing how the Bridgend Pub in Crickhowell closed on her!

I don't understand why people hate Meg Ryan in this film. Unless they don't like her general. She does a really good job IMO especially up against someone as stellar as Downey. Her performance is quite moving and her accent is not that noticeable. There are actually MANY different Irish accents depending on where you're from, hers was just some variation. People make too much of these things. The worst I can say for Meg is that as an American movie star, she might have seemed out of place with the English cast,but perhaps that suited her deserted Irish character abandoned in the English countryside.
