Why do the angels balance on objects?
I thought it would be explained but it wasnt. Why cant they sit on chairs properly?

They can sit on chairs properly if they choose. There's a few scenes - Simon sitting in a La-Z_Boy type chair at Thomas' apartment, Gabriel sitting in the church pew, Gabriel sitting in the car seat. I believe the scenes with the balancing on objects were just meant to give them a "bird" like appearance since they are angels and have "wings". The only time I can think of when they actually "show" wings though is when Uziel comes down and you see his shadow against the wall. You can see a shadow of his wings for a couple seconds.
