Who played Colonel Hawthorne?

I've never completely understood why this actor was never credited, nor why he hasn't shown up on IMDB as being uncredited (as was Michele Spadaro who played Jerry's girlfriend - appearing only briefly in a photograph). I think the Colonel Hawthorne character was far more prominent, as he appeared in several key scenes. I understand that he had a non-speaking part, but I can't help but be curious who this actor is, and why there is not mention of him anywhere.
Does anybody know?

I, too, have always wondered this. For a while I thought it was J.C. Quinn, but he played somebody called Burroughs.

Speaking of Colonel Hawthorne, we just finished a fan film which references the Second Angelic War... We actually have a (lower-budget) recreation of the funeral home scene where Simon takes the soul from Colonel Hawthorne... Different actors, of course...

It's actually our second fan film to reference The Prophecy. The first was HELLRAISER: PROPHECY, and now HELLRAISER: DEADER - WINTER'S LAMENT is premiering at a film festival this weekend...

Very often when a nonspeaking roll of a completely repulsive character is protrayed, you'll often either get a psudonym or just uncredited. Up until very recently for example if Hitler appeared in a film (IJ: Last Crusade) the actor would never want to be credited with the roll. You can find a lot of examples of this, wouldn't make for a half bad game in here actually (IMDB).

There's another possibility.

Over the years, I've seen movies from time to time which--like the Boris Karloff "Frankenstein", that listed The Monster as being portrayed by ?--have a prominent character so evil and frightening, the decision was made to leave the performer uncredited so that the character portrayed is even scarier and more difficult to forget.

Knowing Colonel Hawthorne only as Colonel Hawthorne fits that bill perfectly. And so does the actor who portrays Colonel Hawthorne, of course. In real life, he's doubtless a very nice guy. As Colonel Hawthorne, I definitely would not want to be alone with him in a distant part of Korea during the coldest month of the war, after the food has run out.

I'm living proof that a mind is a terrible thing.
