Well yes , The Portrayals of Lucifer and Gabriel ARE similar ! However , Gabriel on Supernatural`s MUCH Nicer compared to Christopher Walken`s Portrayal , who ATLEAST AT FIRST , is closer to Uriel OTHER THAN THE ALLYING WITH LUCIFER PART ! Also , Heaven ISN`T closed in Supernatural ! It`s JUST God`s NOT Home WHICH NATURALLY PUTS MANY ANGELS ON EDGE ! Also , they gave Gabriel`s Motivation in The Prophecy to Lucifer in Supernatural ! In The Prophecy , Lucifer`s fighting on Humanity`s Side THOUGH FOR HIS OWN SELFISH REASONS ! In Supernatural , Gabriel`s fighting on Humanity`s Side because he loved them from The Start , he WAS JUST TOO AFRAID to fight his More Powerful Brothers ( and WHO WOULDN`T BE WHEN YA GOT THE GENERAL OF HEAVEN`S ARMIES AND THE FREAKIN` DEVIL FOR BROTHERS ? ),at first , before Dean`s words made him realize The TRUE Value of Free Will ! Although , it`s interesting to note IN BOTH Lucifer kills Gabriel THOUGH Prophecy Gabriel came back and Supernatural Gabriel HAS YET TO ! So ya , it`s NOT A Ripoff SO MUCH AS An Homage ! Gabriel and Lucifer ARE Portrayed Similarly in BOTH Continuities ! However , Lucifer in The Prophecy ADMITS he`s Evil , something Supernatural Lucifer WOULD NEVER DO ! Likewise , Prophecy Gabriel WOULD NEVER PRETEND TO BE A PAGAN GOD AND WHORE HIMSELF OUT like Supernatural Gabriel !

Wasn't Supernatural's early premise to deliver a short Horror film every week? Well, sort of. Let's just say they ripped off MANY movies. And now they've used the plot of a so-so nineties flick to provide them with a story arc for 3 seasons.Yeah, I certainly remember why I wasn't watching it for the story...

Back on topic: It took me some time till I realised why Mark Pellegrino seemed so perfect as Lucifer: He resembles Viggo Mortensen a lot.
