Is this a Stand Alone movie OR..
Do I need to see all three to enjoy. Like the Matrix I could have lived with just the first, didn't need the other two OR Is this more like the Omen where the story grows and it makes a great trilogy ?

shareI only recently discovered that there even were sequels. I saw the original when it first came out and loved it. It has a very clean ending with no loose ends. So when I saw the 3rd was on TV one night I thought I'd watch it just to see what it was like. Unfortunately I was really tired and passed out about half way through, but what I did see seemed to be able to stand up as it's own movie. It does refer back to the previous movies a number of times but it filled in everything I had never seen or had forgotten. So I highly recommend the first one and if you like it give the other two a shot, if not you won't be missing out on any cliffhanger endings.
shareI feel it works BEST as a stand alone movie. But I enjoyed the sequels too. Even the third one.
shareYes.
The two "sequels" are typical sequels which violate the history established in the first movie, the only one that counts. For example, after having been definitely and undoubtedly killed at the end of "The Prophecy", the first "sequel" presents Gabriel as alive and well, carrying on with the war, even though the war ended at the end of "The Prophecy".
What do you think of "Omen IV"? Turns out, Satan has a granddaughter!
I'm living proof that a mind is a terrible thing.
But there is nothing in that specifically that doesn't follow on from the previous 3 movies...? Particularly if you have made sense of The Final Conflict and Damien's last lines......read the books - they make it far more explicit (though the movie Omen IV is not based on any of the 5 books).
As for Prophecy - I have seen the sequels but never thought much of them at all - the original makes perfect sense on it's own and brings things to a nice conclusion....the sequels are not "Follow-ons" really.
Greg.......stiff-assed Brit......
Not really, but Gabriel's character changes over time and by part 3 he's a good angel again.

Stand alone. I don't even consider the others to be real sequels.
shareIdk, I enjoyed all the sequels of The Prophecy but hated The Matrix sequels.
