It's clear that Virginia Madsen's character saw Lucifer, but it doesn't really seem to be clear if Tommy saw him and felt him or was it just Lucifer in his mind and Tommy reacting to that?
I hope that Walken and Viggo appear in another film together.
I hope they appear together too. Just to look at Viggo in this movie, and see him in "A History of Violence", "Crimson Tide", and even the LOTR movies. WOW what a great character actor. He can play a mobster, a marine, and a great warrior to save middle earth, in great style. Cheers to Viggo!!
Thomas certainly physically felt Lucifer. My opinion is that, as one trained to the priesthood, Thomas understands the dangers and seductions of the devil and is looking away from him. What Lucifer is saying is what Thomas wants to hear and the refusal to even acknowledge him is a form of "Get the behind me..."
At the end of the movie, Tommy is looking right at him and talking to him. I would say he saw him. Not only that, the Devil then got right in Tommy's face as they're talking and Tommy says, "I have my soul, what do you have?", looking the Devil right in his eyes. You should re-watch the movie.
_ Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.
I'll rewatch the movie and you can review the previous posts to this thread.
Tommy may be looking in Lucifer's direction, saying something, but may not actually "see" Lucifer the same as Katherine did. It's the same concept of a person who is blind can and will look in a certain direction, but does not "see" the source of whoever or whatever they are addressing or reacting to.
