Who do u think for Oscar; best portrayal of Satan?

(Thread idea stolen from the End of Days board)

John Glover, Brimstone. (Totally. Was my first thought when i saw the title thread over at the End of Days board. That was a GREAT show. Buffy caught on and got big just after this show was cancelled, I think if it had come out later, it would've lasted longer on Buffy's coat-tails. Maybe a re-boot and an airtime after Supernatural?)

Tim Curry, Legend. (loved this movie as a pre teen. Classic devil. Horns an hooves, Tim Curry voice, liked killing unicorns, evil. 'Nuff said.)

Peter Stormare, Constantine ("I have stocks." Awesome line, creepy, petty AND had the bonus fly/float thing. And his nickname was 'Lou'.If you had Constantine's balls, that is.)

But my number one is still... (evil drumroll pls):

Viggo Mortensen, Prophecy. (if you haven't seen it, go find it. Viggo was an unknown at the time, but my friends and I all sat up and went "Who's THAT!? CREEEPY HOT in a disturbing, frightening way. Fun movie if you can ignore some mildly dated effects and like that kind of film.)

What about Max Von Sidow in "Needful Things"? A pretty good portrayal of beelzebub as well, eh?

I have to admit.. Im a BIG max von sydow fan.. And he's exactly how I picture old nick... In the background, pulling strings, and laughing his sick f--cking ass off!! "Kill em all, let god sort them out".. Best line in the movie...

I'd have to say DeNiro in Angel Heart because he was just sssooo creepy. 2nd would have to be Viggo if not only for the 'fill you with your mother's feces' line and also scary. I think Peter Stormare was good but DeNiro and Viggo were just better, imho, with their creepness.

Haven't seen Legend will have to check that out.

I was just thinking about this earlier while watching the film. I've only seen brief clips of Byrne in End of Days, so I can't speak to his performance. Viggo, however, was the perfect mix of terrifying menace and seduction. His performance stole the whole movie, in my opinion.

I'm also a big fan of Al Pacino in The Devil's Advocate and Tim Curry's Darkness. Curry is another example of being utterly frightening, yet enticing at the same time. I actually found myself thinking he was rather sexy in the role, which is insanity considering what he looks like in the film.

De'Niro scared the sh*t out of me when he reveals himself and his eyes are yellow.

Mortenson was was I think the closest. Creepy, disturbing, wicked. Gave me the creeps.

Pacino was the most charismatic and deranged.

Tim Curry is classic and the most fantasy like.

Stormare was also creepy and funny like Pacino.

All in all I liked all these performances. Honorable mention to the one in the Passion of the Christ. I'm sorry the name escapes me now. But like Mortenson she was so disturbing creepy that it gave me chills. Especially with that ugly baby thing.

Viggo wins hands down for his ( small but essential) part in The Prophesy.
I remember seeing this on video when it came out. He was an unknown, but Ive never forgotten his performance.
Simply fantastic

It's a short film made for BMW, but Gary Oldman's portrayal of satan in the short film "Beat the devil" is just awesome.
James Brown wants more fame and fortune, and decides to make a pact with the devil. To get what he wants, he must beat the devil in a drag race in Las Vegas. Clive Owen is driving for James Brown, and Danny Trejo is driving for the devil.

The movie is starring Clive Owen, James Brown, Gary Oldman. Marilyn Manson and Danny Trejo is also in the movie, but with small parts.

Viggo (the prophecy) I loved this portrayal because he was pure evil and pragmatic and i loved how his movements were savage and snakelike, especially the way he crept over Daggetts shoulder when talking to him.

Mark Pelegrino (Supernatural) - This was the 'sympathy for the devil' portrayal... Very paradise lost, and the angel family was portrayed like a human family with Lucifer and Michael being mirrors of Sam and Dean and i loved that fresh take. He was evil but he also made sense. And with this show the way heaven and hell is portrayed is very prophecy like.

Darkness(legend) Tim Curry was awesome and the makeup was incredible...He was seductive and threatening and lol kinda hot.
