creature with the crown of thorns with the Devil?

Does anyone know what this thing was? It was always just creeping about wherever the devil was. Was this anything with particular biblical reference? Would take someone with more knowledge than me to know (if there is anything at all).

To my knowledge, this was just a protector and/or assistant for the Devil here.
