Die Fledermaus / Deflator Mouse

OK so I first saw this movie close to ten years ago, when I didn't know anything about opera. So when Gil Hicks says that he and Brandi would take in an opera on their date, and says Die Fledermaus, my ears heard Deflator Mouse. I thought that that was a weird name for an opera, but I didn't dwell on it.

I still don't know much about opera, but yesterday I was walking by an opera house and one of the posters on the side of the building said "DIE FLEDERMAUS" on it. I saw that and then it suddenly clicked. It wasn't quite a Eureka! moment but it was pretty close.

Did this happen to anyone else?

That is not how a chicken sounds. Chickens don't CLAP!

Not exactly but those types of things happen to me a lot. Real big "oh man!" moments.

Like a sex joke from a movie you saw when you were 7, and have since seen when older, but no re-evaluated on repeated viewings, and then one day you're 28 and you see it for the 10th time and, wham, it was there all along.

It's also a semi-reference to Batman i.e 'die fledermaus' means 'the bat' in german.

I'm sorry. If you were right, I'd agree with you. -Dr. Malcolm Sayer("Awakenings")
