Why is this not more acclaimed?

That crapfest Bowfinger netted mostly rave reviews, but the critics tore this movie apart. Why?

To the world you may just be somebody, but to somebody you may just be the world.

I have never heard anyone say a nice thing about Bowfinger (and what a random example at that) but if they did, it was likely due to goodwill generated by Steve Martin.

I love Mallrats but to be fair, the humor was pretty crude and it was squarely aimed at the youth market. It was never meant to be critically acclaimed.

I don't remember anything about Bowfinger, but I'm pretty sure I enjoyed it more than Mallrats. At least, more than the first time I saw Mallrats. I really hated Mallrats the first time I saw it, it was years before I realized it wan't *that* bad.
