Jason Lee made this movie.

Hands down. He's a gem, he's just walking on air, all through the film. Everything he says is comedy gold, his deliveries are simply impeccable.

I totally agree. He's the very best thing about the film, making his character come to life and his performance was pitch perfect. Personally Brodie is one of my all time favourite characters.

The film is just OK with some reasonable laughs and that terrific performance from Jason Lee. However, this is definitely one of the more weaker films from Kevin Smith.

When I first saw this film I thought that Jason Lee was going to be a massive star, one of the funniest guys I had eveer seen, never really happened IMO.

Absolutely hilarious! When he's on the dating show at the end I die of laughter every time.

He doesn't seem to want to be the big guy. I mean, when Earl hit he probably could have done just about whatever he wanted, but he didn't. So I think he'd rather just work on and off.

You can have Jason Lee but I will always pick Jeremy London!
In my opinion he made the movie!

agree too... the game show sequence is pure gold

I really do like Jason Lee in Earl but his character Brodie was to Funny. Best ever!

reply

I agree. He made this movie much, much better than it might have been without him. He just plays every scene totally over the top, really over-committing himself to every single line. It's like watching one of the stars of the first few seasons of Saturday Night Live, in their prime. Absolutely hilarious.

You are toast, my toasty friend.

reply

He was certainly a great find by Smith and helped to offset the utter banality of Jeremy London. Most of the cast is perfect in this, but London is a serious detriment.

reply

I also agree, Lee is amazing in this, so animated and over the top but in a good way.
Even his angry lines are hilarious like in the elevator scene, 'NO LIBIDO TO ATTACK?' oh man he's so great through the whole flick.

reply

Definitely, without him, this movie would take a huge hit. He's the reason I love it so much.

"Welcome to prime time, bitch!" Freddy

Great character, great actor, a couple of the deliveries are a bit forced or something but it somehow still works. Just a hero to all us comic geeks. I was never all that interested in the other couple even though Clair Forlani is a major cutie.
