Not very good
This film really hasn't stood the test of time. I saw it recently for the first time in about a decade and it comes off as pretty corny and stupid now.

It came off as pretty corny & stupid when it was originally released.
It was just a slapstick comedy. They made it VERY accessible by setting it in a mall & adding a romance. The pop culture stuff is all dated. But it could have been set anywhere. Sometimes I think it was made for Kevin Smith to burn some gags.
NTTAWWT, I think that's why people like it so much. Even more than Clerks. If you share Smith's sense of humor, you'll enjoy the movie. It's just him riffing.
I couldn't agree more. I just watched this recently and thought, "Why the hell did I like this movie?" It was so geeky and silly, but then again, when I first watched this I was still a teen and stoned most of the time. I was sober the last time I watched this, so maybe I gotta get high and watch it again.
shareI'm pretty high right now and the movies stills pretty stupid. The sexism in the caracthers concerning woman caracthers in the movie is also a bummer. I mean, they pass all the movie running after girls, but in the same time they treat they as trash. These two caracthers are just *beep* who eventually made one or two cool pop-reference jokes. I mean, would be funny if you don't know anything of this. Impressionable, to be more exactly.
I think Kevin Smith took all the ideas he had one day from Clerks and decided to make this junk. Clerks was an awesome movie, because it's more like an art movie. Smith put his perspectives as a Jersey Boy in it, but also as an writer/artist. I thinks that Mallrats he did for the fun... Not that I think it was fun at all.
I'm not a Hater really... I even liked Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, the movie was *beep* and more os less like Mallrats, made for laughs, but way better and way funnier.
