Friends don't let friends watch the extended version of this movie

Even Kevin Smith didn't approve, calling it the extended version because he considered the theatrical version the director's cut to begin with. The timing is completely off and really turns a great cult-classic into a mediocre mess.

If you're a huge fan of the movie then give the extended a try sure (be prepared to grimace), but definitely do not let anyone see the extended version first. The theatrical version is vastly superior in every way.

I don't care for the extended version all that much either. I always flip to the theatrical side. The extended version was worth it, however, for the cast reunion Q & A.

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

Omg I'm watching it for the first time now. I'm incredibly shocked by how different they are.

I agree. I seem to have lost my DVD original and had to resort to streaming the movie the other day. I had no idea that this extended version existed and frankly, I wish that it did not.

the opening scene is such a disaster that it could have ruined smith forever.
