A hidden little gem!

Saw it again last night. Loved it! Just simply loved it! François Truffaut, the great French filmmaker, did a movie on moviemaking that was a masterpiece, La Nuit américaine (Day For Night)but I must admit Tom Di Cillo's one is also
very, very good. Charming! Amusing! Imaginative! And true! The use of black and white and color process is very interesting. Have done some movies and it is quite like this. Steve Buscemi is great but specially the one who plays his mother, Rica Marten, I think. Hilarious, at the end! A must see movie!

I was talking to a distributor friend of mine about it and he thinks it's not a good enough movie because 'normal people' wouldn't get it. The discussion came after a screening of another great film that lives up to the nightmare that is indie filmmaking: "Cutting Room" that I believe is going to be officially(?) released sometime in the next couple months. I'm not sure the rumours are true though as apparently distributors think that people don't want to see films about filmmaking... I find it more interesting than films about dental hygentists...

I've just seen Living in Oblivion and thought it was great. Very funny, and gave some insights. I think that at least movie loving audiences, people who enjoyed reading Lumets Making Movies should watch this one. I do believe there are enough of them, and I really care more about filmmakers than about... uh... doctors (though there are some good series).
