the first twenty-thirty minutes are pure genius

While I'm not sure if Living in Oblivion is a masterwork, there are many things in it that I really, really liked alot. But just as a segment I responded strongest too I liked the first one best. I loved the way things kept popping up and distrupting the film, and then with Buscemi's uproarious outburst. It's also just pure interest in these scenes, for a film buff like myself (and former indie-film PA), to see how the machinations of a studio shoot work like this, not quite exaggerated really except for some comic relief.

I loved all 3 acts. It was tough to choose, but I think the 2nd act was the best. I thought that actor with a massive ego alone, and his constant input into the scene was hysterical.

Especially his disputes with Dermot Mulroney were great.

In the first act though, the best part was when the camera wasn't rolling and Keener was giving like the best performance ever off camera. It was not only hilarious, but probably the most frustrating moment of the film. At that point, I think I actually felt the director's pain and was cringing at that scene.

The scene between "Cora" and "Nicole" (Catherine Keener's character) when they do it so right (and it does not get filmed)... the emotion in that scene gets me every time. When Dermott Mulroney (Wolf) turns his head for the first time and you see the eye patch, it is hilarious.

Best line, IMHO; "...no wonder I'm so *beep* exhausted."

I think he could have just left it as a "short" and it would have been brilliant. There were some good scenes afterwards but none as good as the first act.
