i love how they send four police officers to get one little girl. she's not a murderer; she's a thief (at least, that's what they've been told.) i know that the script required four police officers because becky was eventually going to be taken too, but the police wouldn't have known that from the beginning.

on another note: why did the police take becky? miss minchin just says "take this one while you're at it." but she didn't say that becky did anything wrong.

another thing i found funny about the police is when they're all watching sara trying not to fall while crawling to the neighbor's house and one of the officers says to miss minchin, "we're trying, miss." i thought, "by doing what? willing her not to fall? using your mind control powers to convince her to return to the school? you're not doing anything!" haha.

Well back in that day it was rather racist.
Becky was black and poor. Miss Minchin could have probably accused her of anything. It's rather sad to be honest.

If Becky was Black and poor, she probably could've had her sent to jail for just about anything and nobody would believe poor little Becky, no matter what she said to the contrary. Sad sad sad... Or, seeing how she didn't have any parents, she could've had Becky sent to an asylum of some sort, which would probably be just as bad, if not worse than jail.

obviously in the book she wasn't black but her status as a poor servant still stood so yes, her life would be less valuable than sara's

What did Minchin have to gain from getting rid of Becky though? I would have thought she'd want to keep at least one servant. Plus her sister ran away so there's even less staff for the kitchen (although she probably didn't know about that yet).

Yeah, i thought of that a couple of weeks ago when i re-watched this. It was a terrible decision, really. I guess she just did that out of spite and would come to regret it in the morning.

Please don't feed the trolls.
