He pounded an entire whiskey pint in less than 10 seconds?

Now I understand his tolerance is far beyond our comprehension at this point, but still, wouldn't he need an ambulance in an instant after doing that? Especially considering the amount of drinking he did prior in that bar and in his car? Seemed a bit far-fetched that he was still alive the next day.
But the film really did nail the withdrawal symptoms perfectly.

Actually, that is guite realistic. A pint is just over 10 drinks. No problem for a guy like Ben.

I've seen it before. It's insane how conditioned some people's body can become to alcohol. I knew my friend had a serious problem but it didn't hit me until I saw him drink a pint of Crown like it was water and he just continued conversing with me as sober as can be

No. My grandad would wake up and drink a half bottle before he even left his bed he used to leave it on his side drawer and it was literally like his cup of coffee.

He would then leave for work and this would continue through lunch hour the lot, to this day I still don't know how he managed it by the time he got home he was wrecked and a complete w*anker.

He is still alive btw and in his 60's a career alcoholic, That's why Ben dying so soon i dont quite believe, there is many I know who have drank to his extent over a period of time and alive.

Maybe it's his lack of eating or should I say none atoll that brought it alot quicker, it still is one of my best films of all time incredible by the man Cage!

Ben's death was due to the lack of nutrition. One very over-looked scene is when Ben and Sera are at a restaurant having a pasta dish. Ben puts it away and says "I think I've put too much salt on it", and then goes for the drink.

Later on in the movie Sera has cooked some "plain rice" for him and says "I think it is something you could eat". Again, he goes for the drink and leaves the food untouched.

Not eating anything substantial for several weeks and relaying on alcohol as the only intake to digest would make the body crumble and eventually give in.

If Ben had eaten normal meals alongside his drinking, he would most likely have lived for months longer and probably years. He would have caved in eventually, but it would have taken much longer to do so.

Perhaps not if you're really-really hardcore. But I can't see anyone not blacking out in a matter of minutes. That's a huge jolt.
