Let’s say that one of the players died, would that mean the game couldn’t be finished if no one won by the time that players next turn came?
Also let’s say that no one rolled a 5 or 8 by the time it was Alan’s turn again, would that mean that the game couldn’t be finished as well?
It has been a while since I saw the movie, but let me try to answer.
If someone dies, they have been eliminated from the game. Just like in monopoly if you go bankrupt you are out. So if someone dies, there is no longer a turn to take; the other players just skip over it.
If no one rolled a 5 or 8 the game ends when the game ends. If no one rolls it by that time, Alan is gone and likely irretrievable.

I can see it going 1 of 2 ways. Either Alan dies because no one rolled what he needed and he is thus lost forever, or if the game is finished then everything goes back to normal and Alan is returned.
