The score

The music is one of my favorite things about the movie.
Anybody else love the film (besides the story) for the soundtrack?

"Troubled childhood? If you consider a 9 year old kid with a 35 year old girlfriend troubled."

Yea the soundtrack was brilliant. Just re-watched on netflix since I had it on VHS years back. A lot of celtic type panpine stuff, some bits reminded me of Braveheart for some reason, especially the end.

Either way it was a great score...

reply

The music was done by the same guy who did Braveheart. I think he did both scores around the same time.

reply

Yup, Mr. James Horner (R.I.P.)

Watching this movie now is a triple whammy: No more Robin Williams, no more James Horner, and already just good 'ol nostalgia.

reply

Agreed. One of my favorite soundtracks. The only thing with James Horner, R.I.P., is that he had a habit of recycling melodies from his other scores. You can definitely here allusions to Braveheart and An American Tail in here.

As well as casper, and the transition from soft high strings to loud low piano chords he seemed to use in a lot of his movies, like Sneakers. So if you know his work, you hear his other things come through.
