...the possibility that it's Rico firing the gun? Probably their most famous, heavily guarded prisoner escapes and no one knows about it? Flying vehicles but not even something such as a telegraph in the future? "Hey this guys brother escaped yesterday, it might've been him, same DNA and all" Nothing like that? Ridiculous
Presumably because (in this film, at least) nobody knows that they're brothers (or clones) with the same DNA. In the comic it's common knowledge that Dredd and Rico were clones of Fargo, and in fact it's standard practice for Justice Department to clone their best and brightest to carry on their legacy. This film went for the less-interesting "super-secret government experiment" angle.
I thought he did but maybe I'm wrong. There was that emotional moment in the locker room where he said "I judged him" << referring to Rico. But maybe they just had a good friend relationship instead of a brother-brother relationship. If not Dredd then what about that one judge who was pals with Dredd? I know he knew
But maybe they just had a good friend relationship instead of a brother-brother relationship.
It's been over twenty years since I saw this (godawful) movie, but if I'm remembering correctly, Dredd refers to Rico as a "friend" he once had.
If not Dredd then what about that one judge who was pals with Dredd? I know he knew
Who? The only other street Judges I remember in the movie were Hershey (who didn't know who Rico even was) and that younger guy (possibly still a cadet) who figured out that Dredd's baby photo was fake.
The higher-ups knew about it, of course, but they were the ones keeping it covered up. Which would have been a kind of a catch-22, because even if they knew Rico was the one who'd committed the murders, they couldn't get Dredd off the hook without revealing his and Rico's origins. So they had a choice between losing their best Judge, or revealing their dirty secret. Though why it was a dirty secret in the first place is beyond me - like I said, in the comic the use of cloned Judges is common knowledge, and Dredd has always been proud of his heritage as Fargo's clone.

Ok I must've had my brain turned halfway off for this one. Probably a self defense mechanism lol. Actually I kinda liked the action parts and for all the crap Rob Schneider gets on here I thought he was pretty funny. I forgot the higher ups had to keep it secret my bad
You have a good point, the Janus files/project was well known among the justice's, they knew where Dredd came from and that means they knew of Rico's existance. However if I'm not mistaken I think the majority of them were not aware Rico was still alive, but it must have occured to the chief justice that the DNA evidence was from Rico not Dredd and it didn't seem like he was the corrupt type so why did he sit back and let them convict Dredd, also he had to know that Rico was running around free causing havoc and trying to destroy mega city it seems like by all means sit back relax and don't worry to much about the psycho on the loose because it'll all sort it self out in the end right?
