No way Chris would have escaped that SWAT stop and ID check

Never bought that scene. Always wanted to ask a cop or SWAT team member how that REALLY would have gone down. I mean, they were looking for Chris and the guy's face matched the wanted poster perfectly. You would have to imagine SWAT would have been extremely suspicious and possibly detained him for further checks. He was in the area that he was called to and even stopped to look in Arlene's direction. Come on now.

Agree. Drucker let him get away too easily. He knew what he looked like and would have wanted a look for himself.

It's a movie. Not a real life situation.

That's not a good explanation.

Yeah, it was a throw-away scene considering Michael Mann's penchant for narrative detail, but it works for the movie's progression as the noose tightens around Neil McCauley

Other than cutting his hair, Chris really did nothing else to change his appearance. The cops should have had great photos of him and everyone working that job should have been briefed. They even should've had photos directly on them that they could compare to anyone who came. The bottom-line is that Chris in reality, should have been detained at the end instead of being let go with a fake ID.

Not to mention the fact he looked like death warmed up. That would have raised interest alone.
