No scenery was left unchewed by the major actors and none surpassed Al Pacino.

I agree 150%...this movie is not meant for you. This movie is up there with movies like "The Professional" and "Way of the Gun"....untouchable (please don't play yourself and try to remake) Classics.

Such a stupid comment. Of course it's not meant for you if you don't like it. And do you think your opinion on the movie is fact or what? What's the case here? I personally disliked it. I thought it was way too long for its own good. I probably would have enjoyed it had it been shorter.

With that said, you're wrong in your insistence that people who don't like this can't handle a slower movie or whatever you were insisting with that group of films. I've enjoyed PLENTY of long movies like The Green Mile. Heck, I've even found myself immersed in The Titanic's massive runtime. Heat just didn't vibe with me. It felt like a director's cut posing as a theatrical release.

If you like it, like it. Get over the fact that people have different opinions about every movie that ever existed. There's a reason why there are so many movie critics out there.

I just rewatched this for the first time in about 6 years last night. It's great. That bank robbery scene is transcendant and one of the best action sequences EVER. The music too..it adds so much to it. I love how it comes out of nowhere with DeNiro casually walking through the center into the bank. It's perfect. The slow parts still stood out as the only weaknesses, but it actually makes the action scenes all the better once they arrive. This movie is without a doubt a classic and has definitely remained great all these years. I can't see anyone who paid attention to it voting it below an 8. The first half of it might seem average or conventional to some people, minus a few great scenes, but it really takes off in the second half into something undeniably unique and all its own.
