Connection to "Dead of NIght"?

So this movie came up on my suggested list on YouTube, and I had seen it and kind of liked it. So I just watched the whole thing again. And I love the way that 'Zero Cool'/'Crash Overdrive' (Dale Murphy/Jonny Lee Miller), the greatest hacker ever, once his parole time has expired he decided to break into a TV station and play an episode of the original "The Outer LImits" (which is favorite series of mine). But then after I see this movie I read about it at IMDb. It says there is a connection between this movie and another very old movie I really like called "Dead of NIght". It says:

So what does "Edited from" mean? How is there a connection between these 2 movies?
